When you need that shot that is something a little different these EF lenses might be just the trick.
The Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro is one of Canon’s sharpest lenses, and at an effective 150mm on the C300 can also function perfectly as a standard telephoto lens.
Minimum focus distance is just 29cm where 1x magnification is also achieved. When you want to get really close and tight on your subject this is the lens you will need. (e.g. extreme close up of an eye) With the added bonus of up to 4 stops of image stabilisation this is an extremely versatile prime video lens.
The Sigma 600mm f/8 Reflex lens isn’t the sharpest of super-telephoto lenses on the market, but at just under 1200g it is one of the lightest.
This lens is a fixed f/8 aperture and so isn’t suitable for low light photography but would be perfect if you wanted to do covert filming form a distance during the day, or perhaps shooting surfers from the beach. On the C300 you control exposure with a combination of ISO, shutter and ND filters.
Effective focal lengths on the C300 Super 35 1.5x sensor:
- 100mm = 150mm
- 600mm = 900mm
